Re: “Imam accused of planting evidence in Pakistan Qur’an burning case against Christian girl,” Herald Online, Sept. 2.

As a Canadian Muslim, I am ashamed of what my fellow Muslims are up to, but as a mother and as a professional who works with children with special needs, I am quite disturbed.

In my opinion, the treatment meted out to this child is much worse than the actual act of religious text burning. How can you please God if you respect the papers on which His message is written but not His living creations?

Burning, along with burying and floating in a flowing body of water, are all acceptable methods of disposing of copies of the Qur’an that can no longer be used. Therefore, it all comes down to your intention of burning the Qur’an.
