AMMAN — Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, HRH Prince Hassan will head Jordan’s delegation to the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Tehran, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Iran welcomed a group of 120 developing nations on Sunday to the NAM summit, which was opened by Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, Reuters reported.

Eighty countries are participating in the summit at the level of ministers or higher, foreign ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast was quoted as saying by Reuters, with 50 sending their heads of government.

Big players include UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and Egypt’s new president, Mohamed Morsi — the first Egyptian leader to visit Iran since the 1979 Islamic revolution.

The key event bringing together the heads of state and delegations participating in the meeting is slated for Thursday and Friday.

NOTE BY THE EDITOR: This means that Jordan’s delegation is a bit ‘low key’ (no ‘Head of State’).
