King calls for inter-sectarian dialogue center – will Ahmadi-Muslims be included?

MAKKAH: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah yesterday opened an unprecedented conclave of Muslim leaders in the holy city of Makkah.

Addressing the summit in the midnight, King Abdullah urged Muslims to stand united in the face of growing challenges.

“Sedition is worse than killing,” the king said and called for dialogue among the various Muslim sects.

He proposed the establishment of a dialogue center to promote inter-sectarian harmony.

The proposal was received with thunderous applause from the assembled galaxy of Muslim leaders.

Earlier, King Abdullah received the Muslim leaders at his palace, including Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Egyptian President Muhammad Mursi and Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.

In a gesture that would be interpreted as a sign of the summit’s success, King Abdullah made Ahmadinejad to sit right beside him. Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad was on the king’s other side.

There was optimism and a sense of delight among the hosts, Saudis, as well as their foreign guests.

NOTE BY THE EDITOR: Should the members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at also have ‘optimism and a sense of delight’? Will they be included in this dialogue?

  1. The verse that the king is referring to “Sedition is worse than killing,” is better translated, “Lack of religious freedom or persecution is worse than killing.” So, if the summit does not invite the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, they are guilty of violating this verse of the Holy Quran. The verse alluded to is mentioned below:

And fight in the cause of Allah against those who fight against you, but do not transgress. Surely, Allah loves not the transgressors. And kill them wherever you meet them and drive them out from where they have driven you out; for persecution is worse than killing. And fight them not in, and near, the Sacred Mosque until they fight you therein. But if they fight you, then fight them: such is the requital for the disbelievers. (Al Quran 2:191-192)

  2. The King, as we are informed has received a letter from the Head of the Ahmadiyya Community a while ago, it is possible that Allah may change the whole scene of the world by inviting Ahmadi representative at this summit. Hope for the best…
