The Jamaatu Ahlis Sunnah Lil Daawati wal Jihad, popularly called Boko Haram, has said that it would not negotiate with any government representative and had no plans to do so.
In a half-hour video made in Hausa and posted on YouTube, the sect called on President Goodluck Jonathan to resign and also accept Islam.
The video appeared more of a tirade of abuse with the group offering no logical explanation or reason for its demands and positions.
In the video, which was made by the group’s leader, Abubakar Shekau, in the form of an Islamic lecture, the sect claimed that “it doesn’t kill “women and children, but those who have offended us, arrested our people and killed them.”
It also claimed that some people were committing evil acts in its name and that it would go after such people.
The sect also rejected any plans by the federal government to legislate on the number of children Nigerians could have, describing such proposal as ‘blasphemy.’
Such an attitude by so called Muslims is a black scar/stigma on the beautiful face of Islam. For God sake keep the religion separate from politics. President should resist to religion pressure. See your neighbouring Ghana. How much harmony and peace prevails there. Sole reason every one respects the religion of others. It is high time to realise it lest the whole Nigeria is torn apart. It is such a big country with versatile population, resources and rich culture. Better wake up Nigerians and curb the religious extremism.
I’m sorry sir I don’t understand your article . Are you saying that Nigeria must become a Muslim nation or asking for religious harmony because the last time I checked no one persecutes Muslims or believers in Islam in Nigeria except the extremist who believe that Muslims who don’t participate I’m jhad are infidels.
The government of Nigeria should be assisted by world powers to eradicate these so-called Islamists, Boko Haram who have made the federal state very dangerous to stay in.We also have a large degree of Islam in our countries but havent experienced barbarism taking place in that country by Boko Haram.I urge all Muslims to denounce those thugs who terrorise the parts of Africa and cause suffering to our brothers and sisters in the wars they call a Jihad.

but what a pity if nigerians should follow islam when they wetre not borne as muslims is that a good thing? y cant the muslims join christianity? peace is the best of all. there is smthing hiden behind that and not religous war.
It is the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community that has the motto ‘Love for All and Hatred for None’. Christians may say ‘we turn the other cheek’ but rarely do so. But, yes, Jonathan must not embrace Islam. The Qur’an says: There is no compulsion in religion! If Jonathan wants to embrace Islam that is fine, but there is definetely no compulsion! …. and may Allah be our Guide always!
