Turkish Red Crescent rejects Syrian help for refugees

Up to last Friday: Almost 9,700 Syrian people crossed into Turkey in last couple of weeks to find shelter in Turkey.

Top officials of Turkish and Syrian relief organizations met Friday in Istanbul after the mass influx of Syrians who have fled to neighboring Turkey to escape violence in their country.

Turkish Red Crescent Chairman Tekin Kucukali said his Syrian counterpart Abdul Rahman Attar was in Turkey to offer help regarding Syrian nationals who had taken shelter on Turkish side of the frontier. However, Kucukali said Turkish Red Crescent rejected Syria’s offer.

Almost 9,700 Syrian people crossed into Turkey in last couple of weeks to find shelter in Turkey. Syrians are staying at five tent-sites set up by Turkish Red Crescent along the border.

“We have met all needs of these people,” Kucukali said. “We have also taken special care of children, women and patients.

NOTE: Did you notice from other News reports how the United Nations Refugee Agency tried to take ‘the limelight’ of the press, while in fact all costs for the Syrian refugees are being taken care of by the Turkish Red Crescent and the Turkish Government (so far anyway). UNHCR offered publicity and nice words – and nothing else that I noticed so far.
