US President Barack Obama will ask Angela Merkel for a stronger German contribution to the military intervention in war-torn Libya when the chancellor visits Washington on Monday, according to a media report.

Let’s face it: Mrs. Merkel was the only ‘Statesmen’ (or is it ‘Stateswomen’?) who ‘saw it coming’ and realized that all of the Libya ‘engagement’ will be a mess. Has she not proved right so far? As far as I am concerned she has risen in my esteem due to her decision not to militarily engage in Libya (ok, I know that will not count for all that much…).
Germany has always been sensitive in military actions. As in Iraq and co. But Germany also had a very good realtions with Gadhafi, now lets see how she decide after this meeting.
