Tiger Track and Field standouts Webb, Morse named Mexico’s top athletes

On a night when Mexico traditionally honors its finest athletes and pays respect to the accomplishments of every Tiger team, a record-setting sprinter broke away from the pack and a champion high jumper leaped out of the crowd.

Senior track and field standouts Amos Webb and Kaylea Morse were named the Lawrence “Sparky” Rector Athletes of the Year at the MACS 2011 Annual Block “M” Banquet Wednesday night at Mexico Middle School.

Webb, the school record holder in the 200 and 400-meter dashes in outdoor, as well as three other indoor records, was also named the Indoor and Outdoor Track MVP.

Morse earned Indoor and Outdoor Field MVP honors for her outstanding accomplishments as a high jump champion. Throughout her career, she has won multiple sectional titles in the event during both the winter and spring seasons.
