Buddhist who donates to mosques and suraus

KULIM: Mini mar-ket operator Tan Jai Wei (pic), 46, is not your everyday Buddhist.

He donates to mosques and suraus and believes this has made his business flourish.

Tan, who is married and has two children, said he held a vegetable carnival to collect donations for the construction of a mosque in Taman Kenari here six years ago, when met at his Wang Shang minimarket in Taman Kenari yesterday.

From being only a retailer, he is now the main distributor for a ricemill based in Yan.

The rice brand KampungKu states that 20 sen from its sale will be donated to mosques and suraus.

Kulim district religious officer Syeikh Radzi Abdul Mutalib said he had a close relationship with Tan, who was keen on Islamic teachings. – Bernama read more
