One of my insights of presenting different videos of Robert Lawrence Kuhn, Closer to Truth, about God it that by highlighting what has been said positive about God and ignoring the doubts expressed, we may be able to make a very clear metaphysical case for God of the Abrahamic faiths.

Around minute minute 11.30, Kuhn expresses his pessimism that metaphysics will not get him to God. But, I think it should and it does.

The first interviewee is Brian Leftow, who is an American philosopher specializing in philosophy of religion, medieval philosophy, and metaphysics. He is the William P. Alston Professor for the Philosophy of Religion at Rutgers University. He articulates nicely as God being necessity for all possibilities that have been materialized and in a way for His Omnipotence.

The second interviewee goes into simplicity or complexity of God and inevitable atheists’ question, who made God and for that I have added a post at the very end of this collection.

The third interviewee suggests that there could be one or more necessary existences and then he argues, why there is only one. We know God as the Unmoved Mover or the Uncaused First Cause. The holy Quran says:

If there had been in them (the heavens and the earth) other gods beside Allah, then surely both would have gone to ruin. Glorified then be Allah, the Lord of the Throne, above what they attribute. (Al Quran 21:22)
