I had the good fortune to get into one of the leading cadet colleges, in Hasanabdal, in 1973, in the 8th grade. It had already been there for 20 years and had educated a lot of army officers and other successful professionals in the alumni. It continues to be a premier institution for the young minds who live on the campus.

I was only eleven and a half years old and definitely very impressionable when I started there. One of the first books I read in the library there was in Urdu and the title was: What will happen after death? It was a very literal and physical description of paradise and hell. Over the years I thought that I had forgotten about the book. But, it seems the book never left me.

The collection below is now my 21st century version of the book, borrowing heavily from the Quran, 20th century physics and all the Abrahamic faiths:
