Did England have a Spanish queen?
Catherine of Aragon, (born December 16, 1485, Alcalá de Henares, Spain—died January 7, 1536, Kimbolton, Huntingdon, England), first wife of King Henry VIII of England (reigned 1509–47).May 17, 2023.
My own personal research on the history of the British Marmalade.
Catherine of Aragon, the Spanish Queen who married the English King Henry VIII was feeling rather cold in her new environment. (English weather and English husband)
In order to enrich her life she got some Oranges from Spain. She also wanted to ‘spread them’ among the English in order to gain favor for the Catholic Spanish way of life.
As we know her life with King Henry VIII did not turn out happily ever after. The Queen Catherine was busy just trying to survive for a while.
Consequently she failed to inform the English that in order to eat the Oranges with pleasure you should peel them first. The English sort of ‘fought’ with the oranges and just could not see what all the fun is about.
One English guy then had the great idea to boil the oranges with sugar and consequently THE MARMALADE was invented. Finally even the English could enjoy the Orange…
