Islamic unity with emphasis on common points

Tehran, IRNA – Achieving Islamic unity requires emphasizing commonalities and avoiding differences; In other words, the requirement of this action and the realization of unity and rapprochement of religions is that the scholars of Islamic world, due to the many commonalities in different fields, emphasize on them and make the commonalities the link between the Shiite and Sunni sects.

Muslims believe in one God, one qibla, one book, one prophet, one Hajj, and they love the family of the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH). These are the commonalities of the Muslims that must be upheld and the differences reduced.

In addition to the religious issues, there are a number of political issues that could be common ground between Shiites and Sunnis, the most important of which is the issue of Palestine. Freedom of Palestine is the main axis of Shiite and Sunni unity in the political arena. Today, the idea of the liberation of Palestine and condemnation of Israel’s crimes is the most important and main issue of the Islamic world, which has a great potential for unification.

The next common issue is the fight against terrorism, which is necessary for the realization of Islamic unity in the practical arena. Today, terrorism has emerged in the face of ISIS and with the Wahhabi ideology, which has been created and equipped with the support of the United States, some Western countries, the reactionary Arab countries, and the Zionist regime.

ISIS After the defeat in Syria and Iraq was transferred to Afghanistan by the United States and its allies. Today the fight against Wahhabism and ISIL in theoretical and practical dimensions and the condemnation of their behavior and crimes can be a joint action of Muslims and Islamic countries.

Thus, by emphasizing commonalities, the differences that are further highlighted by the enemies of Islam will be reduced, and this will help the Islamic countries to move towards understanding each other.

The main obstacle to the unity of the Islamic Ummah is the plots of enemies of Islam, who consider this unity a danger and a threat to themselves. Today, one of the dimensions of the West’s soft war against the Islamic world is to try to create divisions and find ways to strengthen the differences between Muslims and Islamic countries in order to pit them against each other based on these plans and conspiracies. For example, putting Syria against Turkey or Pakistan against Afghanistan, and like these, are among the obstacles that must be overcome with the vigilance and enlightenment of the scholars and elites of the Islamic world.

One of the requirements for the practical realization of unity is the strengthening of economic relations between Islamic countries. Certainly, the development and strengthening of economic relations between Islamic countries is a key component in achieving unity. In the first place, Islamic countries must recognize the tricks of the enemies of Islam and international Zionism in order to stand together and reach an understanding and common ground. In this trend, they can develop economic relations with each other. As long as there are differences between Islamic countries, the possibility of economic cooperation between them is not high.

If large conferences, such as the International Conference on Islamic Unity in Iran, are held with a clear plan and agenda, it can have a great impact, and it is necessary for the organizers and planners of such conferences to identify and address the main issues and problems of the Islamic world. In the meantime, there is always a main and permanent issue called Palestine in this conference, and along with it, at different times, issues such as terrorism, Islamophobia by Westerners, insults to the Qur’an and the Prophet (PBUH), etc. occur, which can be the focus of the programs Of the Unity Conferences.

In addition, another important issue is the use of modern technologies, which should be considered by the Unity Conference. Today, an active presence in cyberspace is a must for Islamic scholars, elites and intellectuals of the Islamic world and influential people in Muslim public opinion. In this regard, the unity Conference can become a vehicle to encourage participants to participate actively and effectively in cyberspace and provide the necessary training. If an international network is created from the collection of Muslim sites, it is possible to use this capacity to implement the slogan of Islamic unity and rapprochement of religions.

Unity is strength! The fundamental message of Islam is the Unity of God and the establishment of the unity of mankind bound together by ties of practical brotherhood. This is the clarion call of Islam which abhors strife, hatred, greed, selfishness, pride, intolerance and such like unbrotherly dispositions. The aim of every Muslim should be in accordance with the injunction of the Holy Quran:

Help one another in righteousness and piety.

The Holy Prophet of Islam has likened the true spirit of Islamic brotherhood to that of a building every part of which reinforces other parts and, as an undivided symbol of unity, commanded Muslims when lined up for prayer to stand together shoulder to shoulder like a solid wall leaving no space for even a rod to be passed between them.

Islam is a universal religion revealed by God for the guidance of all mankind and is above personal bias, tribal prejudice and ignorant sectarianism. It teaches that all human beings are equal and nobody is superior to another due to origin, colour, genealogy or race. The only difference in the sight of God between individuals is their degree of righteousness. As God says in the Holy Quran:

Verily the most honourable person among you in the sight of God is he who is the most righteous among you. (49:14)

This ideal of Islamic unity and brotherhood which is sadly lacking in the world today can only be achieved by devoutedly acting upon the injunctions of Islam. Muslims should act upon and call people to what is good, and avoid and forbid what is bad. The strong and more fortunate should help the weak and less fortunate. The rich should help the poor. No one should usurp the property and rights of others. Religious tolerance is essential.

The Ahmadiyya Community in Islam has been dedicated to the revival of Islam for over one hundred years since its inception in 1889 by its Holy Founder, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad–the Promised Messiah and Mahdi. Its growth has spread all over the world and the Community continues to spread its heavenly influence in rejuvenating the pristine purity of Islam in the hearts of people of all nations and creating among them a bond of divine unity.
