The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Bangladesh alleged that the law enforcers’ continued to compromise with Muslim fanatics.

In a media statement issued on Saturday over the disinterring of a child born to an Ahmadiyya family in Brahmanbaria, the Jamaat said that the nation must stay united against violation of basic human rights irrespective of religion, cast or race.

On July 9, Muslim fanatics disinterred the body of a three-day-old child hours after she was buried at a government graveyard at Ghatura, said the statement.

Police arrived at the graveyard not long after the child was disinterred from its grave and thrown out of the graveyard, it said.

‘Surprisingly, instead of taking any action against those fanatics or wrongdoers, the police compromised with them and advised the members of the bereaved family and local Ahmadi members to take away the body and bury it at the Ahmadiyya Graveyard of Brahmanbaria town,’ read the statement.

‘We have seen such compromising and bowed down action of local administration on various occasions in past,’ said the statement.

Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at said that such brutal and inhuman acts left them very much shocked and astonished.

The statement demanded that the government take action against masterminds of such heinous acts and bring them to book.

The statement said that the child belonged to a freedom fighter’s family in Feni.

The child was born premature on July 7 and died three days later, said the statement.

Ahmadiyyas in Brahmanbaria came under at least three major attacks in less than a year.

Last year, they had to hold their annual conference on a limited scale in wake of threats from Muslim fanatics.

About the incident of disinterring of the child’s body, Brahmanbaria superintendent of police Mohammad Anisur Rahman on Friday said that police were investigating the matter and actions would be taken accordingly.
