VOLUNTEERS from Keighley Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association gave a helping hand to the town’s Salvation Army.
They cooked-up lentil curry and rice for around 40 vulnerable and homeless visitors to the High Street church.
Association spokesman, Mujeeb Rahman, said members were delighted to help.

He added: “We wanted to play our part during Ramadan to provide assistance to people in crisis.

“Islam teaches us that the poor or needy have a right to a share from the wealth of the well-off and therefore they should provide a safety net for vulnerable members of society.

“Even those who have very little are encouraged to give and their charity can be in the form of food, clothes or labour.”

Chris Bown, community manager at Keighley Salvation Army, said the church was grateful for the support.
“This is the second time the association has helped us in this way and it is very much appreciated,” she added.
“Support with the community meals is really welcome, as they are normally paid for from monetary donations we receive.”

Any company or individual interested in sponsoring a meal should contact Mrs Bown on 01535 604494.
