ISLAMABAD (Reuters) – The Pakistani opposition party led by former cricket star Imran Khan appears to be gaining ground ahead of a July 25 general election, with one new poll showing it pulling ahead of the outgoing ruling party and another showing it only slightly behind.
A survey by Pulse Consultant showed Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI, or Pakistan Justice Movement) ahead with 30 percent of the respondents nationwide, compared to 27 percent for its main rival, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was at 17 percent.
A separate nationwide poll by Gallup Pakistan had PML-N on top with 26 percent, PTI with 25 percent and the PPP at 16 percent.
Both polls were commissioned by Pakistan’s Jang Media Group and were published on Wednesday in its affiliated newspaper, The News. They each surveyed about 3,000 people, with a margin of error of 1.6 percent for the Pulse survey and 2-3 percent for Gallup.
The new polls indicate a swing towards Khan’s party compared to similar nationwide polls in 2017, which put the PML-N 8-9 percentage points ahead of PTI.
The Gallup poll showed most of the PML-N’s losses were to voters who responded “undecided” in the most recent poll, conducted between May 1 and June 6, while the Pulse poll indicated that most of PML-N’s losses went directly to PTI.
Khan’s political fortunes have improved since PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif was removed as prime minister by the Supreme Court last year over undeclared assets.
Sharif, who was disqualified from politics for life, now faces a verdict in an anti-corruption court on Friday along with his daughter Maryam, who is running for parliament. The case, which involves the purchase of luxury apartments in London, could see Sharif jailed and Maryam disqualified.
Sharif’s has accused the military and courts conspiring to oust him and using legal cases and intimidation to help Khan’s PTI party, accusations denied by Khan, the army and the judiciary.
Khan, a former cricket captain of Pakistan, has portrayed the legal cases as a long-overdue corruption crackdown on the PML-N, which he has labelled a graft-ridden “mafia”.

In ‘early days’ I think some Ahmadis had some hopes that Imran Khan will bring some positive change, however, as he aligned himself with the extremist militant Muslim personalities and positioned himself as strongly anti-Ahmadi for the purpose of catching votes we realize that Imran Khan is ‘just another politician’ … poor Pakistan.

I studied quite a lot. As you may have noticed I posted quite a few things about them in The Muslim Times. Yes, I also like their activities in education and business and humanitarian aid. The Aga Khan Development Network is great. So are the Aga Khan Universities and Hospitals (and hotels). Yes, worth learning from them.
I also studied a quite many sects of Islam from extremist to Liberal— from wahhabi-salafi to Shiah to Sufi and ahmadiyyah.
I just found about Ismaili shiah Islam sect recenly, veri interesting and impressive sect if Islam
If I am not wrong I believe that this Ismaili shiah group is the best aming many sects of Islam. Why ?
Because the tenet of Islamic teaching or religion is to create better life if human being in other word to create peace— happiness and prosperity. Is not it?
Ismaili Shiah has been succeeded to avhieve that GOAL so far.
If a sect of Islam or religion fail to achive this goal I believe there is something wrong. Most sects of Islam have been deceived by false Hadith.
Do not you think so Rafiq?
Can give me your thought why Ismaili pray differ with orhers and also they do not promote women to wear hijab.

As I did not do an ‘in depth’ study I am not really qualified to make any judgement here. I also like their work towards education, business, employment, humanitarian activities etc. Why they pray different? The last few Aga Khans always married from outside their faith. Consequently they became a bit lax, not observing all the rules of our faith, which, after all they did observe until about 100 years ago or so. As they observed them for centuries why the change? But, as I said, I am not an expert in this. “There is no compulsion in religion”. Let them do what they like and Allah will be the judge of us all.

The Constitution also incorporates Religious Education Boards for the provision of religious education at all levels of the community, for the requisite human resource development and for research and publication. National and International Conciliation and Arbitration Boards have been established to encourage amicable resolution of conflicts through impartial conciliation and arbitration, a service which is being increasingly used, in some countries, even by non-Ismailis.

The Qur’ān only mentions three specific prayer times:
And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night. Indeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds. That is a reminder for those who remember. (11:114)
The five prayer times are not explicitly mentioned in the Holy Qur’ān and are derived via interpretation.
The prayer-form that most Muslims use today – called Namaz or Salah – was not taught by the Prophet Muhammad himself; it was actually derived and interpreted by the Sunni jurists during the first 200 years after the Prophet and validated by the Sunni legal tool of ijma or “consensus of the scholars.”Whatever prayer-form the Prophet Muhammad actually taught and used is not known today and scholars can only find a few minute details about it from the Qur’an. For example, historians know that the Prophet’s prayer-form included recitation of some Qur’an verses and it included bowing and prostrating. The Qur’an also states that the Pagan Arabs before Prophet Muhammad already prayed in the same way as Prophet Muhammad’s community, except that the Prophet did some of the same actions in a different order – this is reported in the earliest Tafsir of Muqatil b. Sulayman on Qur’an 96:19 which talks about how the Pagans used to perform sujud, qiyam and ruku’ in a different sequence from the Prophet Muhammad. All of this is based on historical analysis using the Quran as a historical document.
The procedures of what is today called Namaz or Salah as practiced by most Sunni Muslims are the result of the Sunni Jurists and Ulama interpreting the Qur’an and Sunni Hadith corpus. Even then, a large number of Muslims such as certain Sufi groups in South Asia, the esoteric Shia groups like the Ahl-i Haqq and Alawis and Alevis in the Middle East, and other Muslim groups do not practice the Namaz as the mandatory prayer-form. The Ismaili Muslims follow a living Imam in direct lineal descent from Prophet Muhammad and Imam ‘Ali b. Abi Talib because the Ismaili Imam is the rightful bearer of the authority of Prophet Muhammad, so it matters little how the rest of the Muslim Ummah prays; nor does it matter precisely how the Prophet Muhammad and his Community prayed. The Ismaili Imam prescribes and authorizes the best and most correct method of prayer in every time-period of history.
This model of continuous Divine Guidance reinterpreted in every time is the same model of Divine Guidance used by Prophet Muhammad when he recited the Qur’an to the Community and gave guidance. The Prophetic-Qur’anic Guidance model is a model of CONTINUOUS, PROGRESSIVE, and RESPONSIVE guidance – that means, whatever the situation of the early Community, both the Qur’anic guidance recited by the Prophet and the Prophet’s own guidance on all matters including ritual practices would CHANGE and UPDATE and EVOLVE as new situations arose and circumstances changed – and this is an undeniable historical fact proven from the Qur’an itself:
The number of prayers changed from 2 times in Makkah to 3 times in Madinah;
The rules on drinking alcohol changed at least 3-4 times;
The guidance for warfare changed several times as the circumstances changed;
The practices of fasting – how to fast and when to fast – changed at least 2-3 times.
The Quran and Prophet were changing and updating the Divine Guidance to the Community in an ongoing manner as times and circumstances changed – and all this happened only over 23 years. The Prophet Muhammad KNEW that Divine Guidance would have to continue after his death – that is why he said that the Kitab of God (meaning Divine Guidance) and his Ahl al-Bayt would never separate from one another and told the Community to follow Imam Ali as the Mawla (Master) because the Imams continue giving Divine Guidance to the Community that is also CONTINUOUS, PROGRESSIVE, and RESPONSIVE. The Qur’an even says that the Imams in the periods before Prophet Muhammad had the Divine authority to establish the form of prayer for the Believers:
And We made them Imams guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, to establish the prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us

And similarly the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community believe that the Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi was ‘the guided one’ for this time, and equally his Khalifas are the ‘living guided ones’. Yes, there is a similarity in how the Ismailis respect their Imam just as the Ahmadi-Muslims respect their Khalifa.
CAN ISLAMIC LAW BE REFORMED / MODERNIZED ? YES AND A MUST!
Why I admite Imam Aga Khan so much and so excited and happy, because he is a more perfect Imam among other Imam who follow the sunnah professionally in context of our time namely the scientific and technology age in 21th Century.
He is busy leader to improve the better life of people around the world with the provision of services to the community in education, health, social welfare, housing, economic welfare, cultural and women’s activities, youth and sports development around the world. Amazing Imam.
Conversely other Sects of Islam are busy with political and spiritual things. They ignore of welfare of people. As result of that create poverty and conflict as we see in most Islamic countries.

Personally I do not like the words ‘reformed’ and ‘modernized’. I prefer the word’ interpretation according to the current times’. That is what for Allah has sent the Imam of this time, Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, and blessed us with the Khilafat. We have Ameer-ul-Momineen, who gives us an upto date interpretation and guide us during the current days. Just watch wwww.mta.tv and you will see.
