A team from Ahmadiyya Muslim Community decided to pitch in, taking their litter-picking skills along Cowley Road on Saturday morning.
LITTER pickers were out in force as they came together to banish unsightly rubbish cluttering and clogging up the city’s streets.
Hundreds of people armed themselves with bin bags as they stormed roads, green spaces and community areas to rid Oxford of its waste over the weekend.
It was the tenth year litter pickers gathered for Oxford Civic Society’s initiative OxClean to spread the message ‘don’t drop litter – bin it’ among their neighbours.
OxClean organiser Rosanne Bostock, who launched the clean-up a decade ago, said the three-day spring clean went well despite battling through Sunday’s stormy downpours.
She added: “I think it was very successful. It’s very difficult to get the momentum across as it’s not a very interesting subject but the fact that people came out and did it, I’m actually very moved and touched by it. It’s only two hours but it’s very good of them…. read more at source.
