The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s upcoming event in Brampton — Jesus in India — through exhibits, lectures and a documentary will tell the story of Jesus’ passage to India, said organizers.

It will take place, Sunday, Dec. 4 at Lester B. Pearson Theatre, 150 Central Park Dr. from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

“The purpose of the event is to present with clear proof the story of Jesus’ journey after the crucifixion and his migration to India (Srinagar, Kashmir), where we believe Jesus is currently buried,” said Mazhar Majeed, regional co-ordinator, outreach for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

According to the New Testament, there appears to be a chasm in Jesus’ life, from when he was 12 to 30. Some Catholic scholars have called it “the missing years,” Majeed said, adding Jesus’ sojourn to India previously during that period explains the gap.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community believes Jesus survived crucifixion, met with his disciples at night and spent the last years of his life in Kashmir, India. The tomb called Rauzabal in the state of Kashmir, Majeed says, is in fact the tomb of Jesus of Nazareth.

Ansar Raza, an Islamic studies/comparative religious studies scholar, will deliver his talk at Jesus in India event at 2 p.m. A question-and-answer session will follow the talk. At 3 p.m. there will be a screening of 30-minute BBC documentary. For more information, email jesusburial@gmail.com.
