A guessing game on the replacement of army chief General Raheel Sharif is likely to end within the next 24 hours, as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is all set to approve the crucial appointment after returning from his Turkmenistan trip.
Apart from filling the post of army chief, the prime minister will have to name the new chairman joint chiefs of staff committee (CJCSC) after the incumbent Gen Rashad Mahmood retires today (Saturday). Earlier, it was thought that Gen Raheel and Gen Mahmood would retire the same day. But a military official clarified that the CJCSC retires a day before the army chief since he took charge a day earlier.
Professionalism must be considered then favouritism. Army is well organised institution in Pakistan.
