HUNDREDS of members of the Glasgow Ahmadi Muslim community are to attend an peace-promoting conference.
Around 200 Ahmadiyya Muslims from across the city are flocking to the three-day international gathering, known as the Jalsa Salana, in Hampshire.
Running from August 12 til August 14, the event will see 30,000 Muslims from more than 100 countries come together to support and pray for peace.
They will also show their support for the worldwide head of theAhmadiyya Muslim Community Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad.
The conference comes in the same week Tanveer Ahmed received a life sentence for the murder of Asad Shah, and Ahmadi Muslim shopkeeper from Shawlands.
Taxi Driver Ahmed, 32, from Bradford was caged for at least 27 years at the High Court in Glasgow for the “barbaric and premeditated” murder of Mr Shah in March this year.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad encouraged attendees to “spread peace to all parts of society. Spread love amongst all of mankind.”
He added: ” “Recently, terrorist organisations have started to regularly commit the most barbaric atrocities in Western countries by taking the lives of innocent people.
“The terrorists have no knowledge of Islam because otherwise they would realise that the Holy Prophet of Islam (peace be upon him) forbade the murder of innocent people under any circumstances and even during a state of war.”
