The Khalifa of Islam and the worldwide head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad addressed the Dutch Parliament earlier today advising the lawmakers and millions around the world who heard his address live that ‘to establish peace it’s essential for mankind to adopt attributes of God.’
His Holiness’ address and the question/answer session that followed were broadcast live via the video service provided by the Dutch Parliament and relayed by Muslim Television Ahmadiyya International to the audience worldwide.
In his address, His Holiness debunked the frivolous notions of Islam’s connection with terrorism or use of force. “If we study the Holy Qur’an and the life of Holy Prophet, we see that Islam is completely against all forms of extremism.”
“It is entirely unjust to associate Islam with such disorder and hatred,” His Holiness Ahmad said, adding, “If we look at the history of all religions objectively, overtime followers of every religion moved away from original teachings.”
“I wholeheartedly accept that overtime Muslims have moved away from Islam’s true teachings,” Hazrat Ahmad acknowledged.
His Holiness answered questions asked by the lawmakers and discussed the issue of free speech.
His Holiness said in his opinion, “you should not have the right to speak ill of someone I love in front of me.” a sentiment echoed by Pope Francis last July following the Charlie Hebdo attack in Paris.
