Good news for Pakistanis who want their presence in the international film and entertainment industry that Pakistan’s first anmation series Burka Avenger has been nominated for Emmy Kids Awards.
Burka Avenger nominated in the animation category and it is the first time that any Pakistani animated series has been recognized in the Kids Awards.
Storyline : Jiya is an “inspirational teacher” whose alter ego is a burka-wearing superheroine. Jiya uses “Takht Kabaddi”, a special martial art that incorporates books and pens, to fight crime.
The man behind Burka Avenger. Haroon, Pakistan’s famous pop singer, is behind Burka Avenger. He is the creator and director of Burka Avenger.
Burka Avenger has previously won several awards including ‘Peabody Award 2013’, ‘Gender Equity Prize’ and the ‘Rising Star Award’ in the animation category at Canada International Film Festival.
Starring Hamza Ali Abbasi as Baba Bandook and Ainy Jaffery as the voice of Burka Avenger, and features songs including Ali Zafar, Haroon, Ali Azmat and Josh among many others has been part of the series.
The international Emmy Kids Awards ceremony will be held in New York on February 20, 2015.
