HUMANITY FIRST has opened its first school in MAFRAQ, JORDAN with 75 Syrian Refugee children and 25 needy Jordanian children.  We are starting this school in Kindergarten level and – Inshallah – will carry it on next year with grade one.

When selecting the children we found that many children that should be in school have been unable to enroll. Consequently, if we manage to obtain sufficient funding, we would like to add urgently another 100 students in grade 1, 2 and 3 of Primary School.

All children have been provided with Uniforms in which the school logo and the Humanity First logo has been added. Schoolbags, books and writing materials have also been provided.

According to United Nations figures there are more than 680’000 Syrian refugees in Jordan. Out of these there are 180’000 Children of school going age. Only approx. 100’000 have been admitted in Jordanian and UN schools.

Senator Sheikh  Talal Al Madi and  Member of Parliament Sheikh Miteb al Jaloobi of the Mafraq Governorate assisted in the Opening Ceremony of the School.

Humanity First in the next days will also start a Grade 12 project in Amman.  This project aims to assist the Syrian refugee students to pass the final Jordanian school examination, enabling them to enter any University worldwide upon graduation at the end of the school year.  A separate report in this connection will follow.
