30,000+ Muslims will pledge their allegiance to the Caliphate and offer to make any sacrifice for its success this Sunday in a mass ceremony in the Hampshire countryside.

On Friday, Muslims from the Ahmadiyya Community gathered for the Jalsa Salana (‘Annual Gathering’), the largest Islamic convention in the UK.

The Caliph, His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad, launched the event by hoisting the Flag of Islam Ahmadiyyat after delivering the Friday Prayers.

Ahmadi Muslims from around one hundred countries have travelled to the 200-acre site in Hampshire to pledge allegiance at the hand of the Caliph. The pledge of allegiance, also known as the Bai’at, will be transmitted via satellite to more than 200 countries.

Tens of millions of people around the world have already pledged allegiance to the Caliph, affectionately known to his followers as Huzoor. The Caliph is the fifth successor of His Holiness Mirza Ghulam Ahmad whom Ahmadi Muslims believe to be the Prophet and Messiah prophesised in Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

The pledge of allegiance was first taken by followers of the Prophet Muhammad. They vowed to sacrifice everything they had, including their lives and honour, for the Prophet Muhammad and his mission.

The Qur’an speaks of this historic event in the following way:

Verily, those who swear allegiance to thee indeed swear allegiance to Allah. The hand of Allah is over their hands.” (48:11)

Speaking ahead of the Bai’at, Farooq Aftab, spokesperson for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community said:

I can’t wait to join thousands of my Ahmadi brothers and sisters on Sunday as we pledge allegiance to the one true Caliph. It’s a pledge to live our lives according to a motto of the community: Love for All, Hatred for None.

The Jalsa will conclude on Sunday evening with a closing speech by the Caliph.
