The so-called Islamic State was only successful in Iraq because the local Sunni tribes permitted them to be. If ISIS starts to ‘boss around’ the local Sunni tribes they will loose their support in no time. That is how ‘Al Qaeeda in Iraq’ got smashed (with the help of the Americans who for once did not rely on their military but found a clever solution of paying the Sunni tribes and recruiting their un-employed).
