As the cases of people contracting Ebola virus rises in Nigeria, the Amir Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Nigeria, Dr. Mashuud Fashola has cancelled all Islamic conferences of the Islamic organisation slated for the remaining part of August and September 2014 to forestall any Ebola outbreak.

In a statement issued in Lagos, at the end of  the executive meeting, (Aamila), held at the National headquarters of the organisation last weekend  and formal report on the Ebola scourge to the world leader of the Islamic organisation, Hazrat Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V,

Dr. Fashola said the decision was informed by the Islamic injunction on the outbreak of epidemic disease, whereby Muslims were enjoined to avoid traveling out of a place or travelled to a place where an epidemic occurs so as to forestall the spread of the disease.

Accordingly, the annual gathering of the elders of the Ahmadiyya, Majlis Ansarullah scheduled to hold at Ikorodu, Lagos this weekend has been cancelled. Similarly, all the vacation course programmes for students in secondary schools and higher institutions of learning billed for Ilorin, Kwara state and Ijede, Lagos state were equally affected by the directive.
