Canada: Thousands of Ahmadi Muslims gather in Saskatoon

About 3,000 members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim faith from all over Western Canada are gathered in Saskatoon this weekend to discuss how best to spread their message of peace and cross-faith harmony.

“It is ironic. Religion came to profess peace and love. Unfortunately, it is made a reason for conflict. Religion should bring us together,” said Lal Khan Malik, Canadian national president of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Friday.

The 35th Jalsa Salana Western Canada conference runs Saturday and Sunday at the Saskatoon Soccer Centre. The event, which has previously taken place in cities such as Calgary and Vancouver, is both social and educational, Malik said.

“It enables the participants to renew and refresh their knowledge of their faith, and tells them of their responsibilities, how we should carry the message of Islam to the Canadian public, and how we should fulfil our civil responsibilities to this great country which has afforded us freedom,” he said.

    Mubarak to all Ahmadis (and non-Ahmadis) who have gathered in Saskatoon to learn how to spread the message of love and peace.
    The whole world should give an attentive ear to the message of Ahmadiyah Islam for the sake of peace through justice. Please save humanity. The non-Ahmadi Muslims are the first to pay attention to the message.
