The Telegraph: Nurseries are at risk of being taken over by religious extremists, the Education Secretary will warn as she announces that toddlers are to be taught “fundamental British values”.
In her first major policy announcement, Nicky Morgan will say that local authorities will be obliged to use new powers to strip nurseries of their funding if they are found to “promote extremist views”.
She will also say that toddlers should be taught “fundamental British values in an age-appropriate way” as part of a drive to protect children from religious radicals.
Nurseries that teach creationism as scientific fact will be ineligible for taxpayer funding, under the new rules.
Mrs Morgan’s announcement comes in the wake of the “Trojan Horse” plot by Islamist radicals to take over state schools in Birmingham.
The scandal involved primary and secondary schools, but this is the first time the Government has warned that children as young as two could require protection from extremists.
Mrs Morgan is understood to be concerned about the risks posed to children by nurseries linked to radical mosques or run by Islamic hardliners.
There are also concerns within the Government that councils need greater powers to react when allegations of extremist values are raised. At present, local authorities provide funding to nurseries that meet basic Ofsted requirements, but there is no explicit statement that they must not support providers — such as churches, mosques or charities — with extremist views.
There are fears that loopholes leave councils feeling powerless to cut off financing for organisations which they have concerns about. “After Birmingham, we feel it is important to be proactive,” a government source said.
However, sources added that there is no concrete intelligence about individual nurseries that demands immediate action.
Ministers were prompted to act after a consultation into early education funding received 450 responses from individuals and organisations expressing concerns about funding going to organisations that promote extremist views.
A report by Peter Clarke, a former counter-terrorism chief at the Metropolitan Police, into the Birmingham schools scandal highlighted that the education system needed to be able to respond swiftly if concerns are raised.
Mrs Morgan, who replaced Michael Gove as Education Secretary in last month’s Cabinet reshuffle, strongly believes that any institution that fails to prepare children for life in modern
Britain cannot be sustained with public funding.
Proposals by Mr Gove to oblige schools to promote “fundamental British values” will be extended to children as young as two, Mrs Morgan will say. For toddlers, the teaching of such values is likely to include learning right from wrong, learning to take turns and share, and “challenging negative attitudes and stereotypes”, it is understood.

OFSTED are corrupt and incompetent parasites. They are a cancer in the body of education in this country. One of the main stories here is that OFSTED judgements are of slightly less value than used bog roll. Everyone in education has known this for years. It’s about time those outside allowed the scales to fall from their eyes and to see the evidence staring them in the face. Many inspectors work as consultants who specialise in selling their expertise in inspection procedures to schools and colleges prior to the announced inspections. Their ‘nice little earners’ will disappear, this might be a positive outcome. A key figure implicated in the Islamic “Trojan Horse” plot to take over secular state schools in Birmingham is a registered Ofsted inspector. Yeah you’re right it’s not Muslim extremists that have caused the problem, it’s all Ofsted’s fault. They must be stopped! They are propagating an inclusive religious agenda! There is no religious extremism! Well, except for those schools and that Ofsted inspector I mentioned. What about extremists like Michael Gove? When will he be inspected? After all, he’s far more destructive and far more of a threat to many more vulnerable pupils. According to Ofsted’s chief inspector, Sir Michael Wilshaw, inspectors of the so-called Trojan Horse schools in Birmingham have found that pupils were “vulnerable to extremism” and that some had been targeted by hard line Muslim governors in a ‘planned and orchestrated’ plot to radicalise pupils. The truth of the matter is that 7/7 bombers were never educated in a Muslim school. They are the product of the British schooling, which makes a man stupid, selfish and corrupt. It is the saying of Lord Burtend Russell. They were mis-educated and de-educated by state schools with non-Muslim teachers.
Teaching Arabic and Urdu languages to Muslim children is classified as extremism. Teaching Muslim children that sex before marriage and homosexuality is a sin. but in the eyes of Ofsted is extremism. They’re not teaching ‘extremism’ they’re teaching Islam. No such thing as extremism in Islam. Unless it can be demonstrated this school was taken over by promoters of extremism since the last Ofsted visit (which rated it outstanding), the situation raises serious questions about how well these inspections are made, and whether the inspectors know what to look for, or whether they are blinkered by consideration of political correctness. Why is the pass rate 75% if the teachers are busy teaching extremism? The Trojan Horse in education in England and Wales is Michael Gove. Presumably once Scotland becomes an independent country he can be deported to his birthplace so that he can concentrate on destroying the Scottish education system instead. Trojan horse was a completely fabricated lie by a former school governor used and abused by known Islamophobic Gove to try and close down a number of schools which he personally disagreed with.
The British establishment is wrong in thinking that Imams are to blame for extremism. Imams are not solution to the problem for extremism. Extremism is nothing to do with Imams. Extremism is not created from abroad, it is coming from within. Britain fails to help Muslim communities feel part of British society. Race trouble is being predicted by the Daily Express, because of an ethnic boom in UK major cities. Muslim communities need imams for the solutions of their needs and demands in their own native languages. Muslim parents would like to see their children well versed in Standard English and to go for higher studies and research to serve humanity. The fact is that majority of Muslim children leave schools with low grades because monolingual teachers are not capable to teach Standard English to bilingual Muslim children. A Muslim is a citizen of this tiny global village. He/she does not want to become notoriously monolingual Brit.
Terrorism and sexual grooming is nothing to do with Masajid, Imams and Muslim schools. Those Muslim youths who have been involved in terrorism and sexual grooming are the product of western education system which makes a man stupid, selfish and corrupt. They find themselves cut off from their cultural heritage, literature and poetry. They suffer from identity crises and I blame British schooling.
Only less than 10% of Muslim children go to Muslim schools and over 90% go to state schools to be mis-educated AND DE-EDUCATED BY STATE SCHOOLS WITH NON-Muslim TEACHERS. All those Muslim youths who are in Syria and Iraq, are the product of state schools where they could not develop their linguistic, cultural Identities. They find themselves cut off from their cultural heritage and are unable to enjoy the beauty of their literature and poetry. It is an educational issue. It is nothing to do with integration or segregation.
The shocking level of targeting of the Muslim community of Birmingham is indicative of the normalisation of the dehumanisation of the Muslims of Britain. Under the pretext of “extremism”, criminal undemocratic and unethical abuse of public institutions and the Muslims of the UK can occur without much accountability. This pervasive attitude, especially amongst officials like Michael Gove needs to change. Our schools are truly trying to develop our children to do well at schools so later in life they are able to stand on their own two feet, but if we stop our schools from doing this than our country will have up rise of unemployment, benefit issues, crime levels high, I think its time for you apologize and allow practitioners to do their job right.
Nick Morgan did not acknowledge that the government’s operational definition of extremism is extraordinarily vague – ‘vocal or active opposition to fundamental British values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs’ – and that Clarke’s evidence for the existence of such extremism in Birmingham schools is extraordinarily thin. A letter published in the Guardian earlier this week said that Clarke’s report is not ‘forensic’, as Nicky Morgan claimed in her House of Commons statement, but ‘a biased mix of uncorroborated smear, anecdote, hoax and chat room gossip’. The report, it said further, ‘reflects neoconservative assumptions about the nature of extremism; ignores significant testimony and viewpoints; implies the essential problem in Birmingham is simply the influence of certain individuals; discusses governance but not curriculum; ignores the concerns and perceptions of parents and young people; and is unlikely to bear judicial scrutiny.’
Native Brits must learn to respect and tolerate those who are different. The needs and demands of the Muslim community are different from those of natives. Muslims are in Britain not to give up their cultural heritage. They must integrate in their new home country, learn new languages and apply for political representation — without forgetting their cultural heritage. It is important to learn Standard English, but their languages should not be neglected. They need Masajid and grave yards. Muslim children not only need halal meat or Eid Holidays but they need state funded Muslim schools with Muslim teachers as role models during their development period also. There is no place for a non-Muslim child or a teacher in a Muslim school. Church schools are here for hundreds of years and no body ever raise their voice against them. Now when Muslim community wants to set up their own state funded Muslim schools with Muslim teachers than all of you have turned against faith schools. You are not against Faith schools but against Muslim schools. Shame on you all.

For a Muslim English is an economic language and Arabic is a religious while Urdu and other community languages are their social and emotional languages.
Whilst I agree that you have an immigration problem in this country, I don’t think that this is your main problem. Your main problem is the disintegration of the family unit and the loveless binge drinking environment that your children are growing up in! NEVER in my life have I seen another country where people so seldom give their children a hug and a kiss like in this country and NEVER in my life have I seen another country where there are so many children from different fathers growing up in single parent households! Before you tackle the immigration problem (at least the immigrants LOVE their kids) you should first look at yourselves!
Anti-Muslim hostility advances the electoral prospects of certain political parties and individual politicians, and in consequence narratives about the Trojan Horse affair were affected by campaigning for local and European elections on 22 May 2014, and for the general election in UK in 2015. For example, there are politicians who stress as part of their party’s appeal to voters that Britain is a Christian country and that Muslims should accept this and they link this claim to the Trojan Horse affair.
Further, there are tensions and disagreements about the role, independence and future of Ofsted, and in relation to the expectations which different interest groups have of Ofsted. These tensions exist within the coalition government, and between the Department for Education and Ofsted, and within Ofsted itself. In common with secretary of state for education, Ofsted stands to gain a great deal or to lose a great deal, depending on how the Trojan Horse affair plays out.
Islam is restoring traditional British values such as shared responsibility and duty, a former archbishop has said. Rowan Williams said that Muslims had brought back “open, honest and difficult public discussion” in one of their “greatest gifts” to Britain. He used a speech to criticise sections of the press for portraying Muslims as “un-British” and complained of “illiteracy” about religion among figures in government. He told the Living Islam Festival in Lincolnshire that Christianity and Islam were shifting British values back towards the community. He said that Britain was an “argumentative democracy” where “we are not just individual voters ticking boxes but individuals and communities engaging in open, honest and difficult public discussion. One of the greatest gifts of the Muslim community to the UK has been that they have brought that back to the people.” Asked if he meant that Islam was rejuvenating British values, Dr Williams said: “Yes. I’m thinking of the way in which, for example, in Birmingham we have seen a local parish and a mosque combining together to provide family services and youth activities, both acting out of a very strong sense that this is what communities ought to do. ” “It’s really important that we respect and try to understand diversity of conscience and belief and conviction in our environment,” he said. “These are not just about what makes us British, they’re about what makes us human.”
Muslim parents and communities rightly want the education received by Muslim children and young people to be improved. In recent years there have been major improvements nationally in the achievement of Pakistani heritage and Bangladeshi heritage pupils, and nationally there is no longer a gap between the achievement of these pupils and the average for all pupils. Muslim children need to be in Muslim Nurseries with Muslim teachers. There is no place for a non-Muslim child or a teacher in a Muslim school. Muslims don’t mix much with non-Muslims because of the deep vein of intolerance and outright racism that exists in British society. Imagine if you moved to Morocco, tried to start a life there and mix with the locals but the locals were openly and actively racist towards you and, however liberal you may be, you were portrayed as a war loving, capitalist right-wing bigot and feared by most? How long would you keep trying to ‘integrate’? You could equally say the same thing about non-Muslims and their experience with Muslims. Which is then seen by the other side as more intolerance and racism. And so the cycle goes on.
The funny thing is that Park View could just set themselves up as a faith school, and continue all of these practices, and nobody would bat an eye. Everything described in this report is fairly common at faith schools up and down the country, including Muslim, Catholic, and Orthodox Jewish schools. If you are really concerned about the influence of ‘radical’ views in schools, then you view of this government. They have enthusiastically supported faith schools. In Witney – in the Prime Minister’s constituency – there’s a Christian fundamentalist school teaching un-British values, such as homosexuality is evil and evolution is untrue. Has the Ministry of Education cracked down on this school? Is there a racist agenda going at all?
Eton or Harrow or Manchester Grammar school are not suitable for Muslim children. Muslim children are being mis-educated and de-educated by such schools. The needs and demands of the Muslim children are different from native children. They produce economic slaves for the British society. Muslim children attending such schools are mis-fit for their own Community. Muslim children need Muslim schools with Muslim teachers as role models during their developmental periods. For higher studies and research, a Muslim teacher is not a priority. Muslim children must develop their cultural, spiritual and linguistic identities before they are exposed to outer world. There is no place for a non-Muslim child or a teacher in a Muslim school.
Indiscipline, incivility, binge drinking, drug addiction, gun and knife crimes, teenage pregnancies and abortion are part and parcel of British schooling. These are the reasons why majority of Muslim parents would like to send their children to Muslim schools with Muslim teachers as role models during their developmental periods. Only less than 5% attend Muslim schools and more than 95% keep on attending state and church schools to be mis-educated and de-educated by non-Muslim monolingual teachers.
This Trojan Horse is a stir up to put up an attitude amongst the British community upon Muslims AGAIN, this hysteria has all been blown up because they do not want non-Muslim youngsters falling to the idea of Islam. Jewish schools have a more strict approach to religion than the majority of Islamic schools or schools that are heavily influenced by Muslim governors, yet they are not gonna be investigated because any hysteria brought up would be labelled anti-Semitism to become increasingly anti-establishment and belligerent. And they would have every reason to if this garbage continues. Park view is not multi cultural. It is mono cultural. It is to all purposes an Islamic school posing as a British secular state school. This “Trojan horse” thing worries me…I do not think that Greek classical mythology necessarily falls within the frame of reference of Muslims.. This affair was started by a hoax letter , driven by Islamophobia , which achieved its end , courtesy of a Government paranoid about ‘ extremism ‘ without any definition of what it means , and a ‘ anti-terrorism industry ‘ trying to justify itself and its funding to the Home Office . Meanwhile Ofsted have become a political tool , a new thought police , with little relevance to the standards of education , and an agenda driven by paranoia in a society which constantly changes its moral goalposts , itself in moral flux and confusion . And let not forget where did this all started, with Al Qaeda, which was created and nurtured and armed by the West. Now everyone is complaining where do all these extremism come from. If you are serious about fighting Muslim extremism start by going to the source, in allied countries like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and so on. But that would never happen because you also want your cheap oil. Hypocrite.
The Trojan Horse affair must not be allowed to hinder improvements that are urgently needed in educational provision, and in the representation of Muslims in educational policy-making and decision-making. Stop this hate against Muslims. It is not them who are terrorists , but all those who imply they are with the help of media you try bringing others to your side giving false details – twin towers wasn’t Muslim either – that was the Americans – you will not win as Islam Will forever grow and prove it is peaceful through the will of God (Allah SWT)… amen. This is undermining confidence in the Muslim community and increasing Islamophobia. This is another example of the media whipping up hysteria against the UK Muslim community. The way our Govt treating British Muslims is as if all Muslims are terrorists unless they prove otherwise. Govt should focus on its job. Governors of this school worked hard to help a failing school achieve outstanding rating from Ofsted. Please fix Ofsted and stop demonising Muslims. Nick Clegg on LBC radio indicated that the DFE is full of right wing ideologues and extremist loons. Islamic schools protect Muslim children from the onslaught of Euro centrism, homosexuality, racism, and secular traditions. All education systems appear to be indoctrination systems. I went to a good private school. Guess how we were ‘encouraged’ to think about politics! Having a Muslim name in UK is a crime. All UK job application forms have sections ask your race and religions. Most UK employers simply reject your applications just by looking at this section.
Westerners value things over children. Muslims value children over things. We complain about an undermining of our culture but then choose a nice car over an extra child. We are pitiful in our obsession with material wealth over cultural stability. Next time you feel like complaining about immigration ask yourself this question: If I had had one more child would that immigrant be necessary today? You want to live comfortably in your old age, but if you don’t breed the kids to pay the taxes that will support you in retirement then we have to other people’s kids in from abroad. If they come from a culture that hates our culture what right do we have to be angry with them for wanting a better life but hating the culture that gives it to them? They would not be here if we’d had more children. We are to blame for this tragedy in Europe, we have made our bed, now we, but more so the few children we did have must lie in it. Your grandchildren might have to live in a continent riven with cultural division and most probably serious civil unrest but who cares…you have a HUGE flat screen TV and a great pension plan. Sweden and France both have a higher birth rate than UK. One of the reason that the birth rate is higher in Scandinavia is that there is almost no residual stigma attached to illegitimacy. It’s quite normal for respectable middle-class girls to have babies at university – which are well equipped with crèches and the like – as well as for poorer teenage girls to have babies out of wedlock. This is much rarer in culturally Catholic countries.
These Pakistanis have adopted the British values of grooming young children. They are the product of the British schooling with non-Muslim monolingual teachers. I have been doing Jihad in the field of education for the last 45 years so that each and every Muslim child should be in a state funded Muslim schools with bilingual Muslim teachers as role models during their developmental periods. I would like to see Muslim children developing Cultural, linguistic and spiritual identities so that they could keep themselves away from western barbarity of anti-social behaviour, binge drinking, drug addiction, teen age pregnancies and abortion and lot of other evils but people like you do not want to see Muslim children in Muslim schools in the name of integration. Now you have seen the result in the form of sexual grooming of young children which is a common occurrence in your culture.
A Birmingham school at the centre of the Trojan Horse investigation spent £50,000 on a taxpayer-funded trip to Saudi Arabia for students and staff. The school had described the Saudi Arabia tours as ”modern foreign languages trips” with the ”double benefit” of allowing students to perform Umrah, a religious pilgrimage.
Last May 40 students and eight staff travelled to Mecca and Medina. The ten-day visit involved stays at luxury five-star hotels.
The 2013 trip to Saudi Arabia had initially won praise from Ofsted in a report last year. Talking about pupil feedback, the report stated: “For pupils who spoke to the inspectors, last year’s trip had clearly been a life-changing experience.” But in the new damning Ofsted report, inspectors raised concerns. “Governors have used the academy’s budget to subsidise a trip to Saudi Arabia for only Muslim staff and pupils,” it said.
On 25 July, Channel 4 News reported on research conducted by Birmingham City University relating to the impact of the Trojan Horse affair. ‘Previous studies,’ said the research director, ‘have shown that British Muslims felt very comfortable with their identity, they felt well integrated and proud to be British citizens. But much of this has been undone by what they feel has been relentless, unfair criticism.’ A mother said: ‘What’s the point of us trying to integrate, every time we do we are somehow told it’s not good enough, or we’re not getting it right.’
Researchers interviewed parents, teachers, governors and local residents. Some felt that the affair had left them feeling that everyone was looking at them and pointing at them as they walked down the street. One resident claimed that her neighbours had stopped talking to her as a result, adding: ‘In fact we have seen rubbish thrown in our front garden … We have all been labelled extremists and radicals.’ A huge concern was the impact of these labels on children. ‘What happens when they go for a job, or try to get work experience, and employers read that they’re from one of these so-called extremist schools?’ asked a teacher.
Such research is a powerful reminder that much rebuilding and restorative work remains to be done. Political leaders such as Nicky Morgan have key roles in the urgent process of restoration and support for curriculum renewal, for example a curriculum which truly reflects and promotes fundamental values. They will not be helped, and in certain respects they will be hindered, by the official reports of Clarke, Kershaw and Ofsted. They will, though, be helped by the strength and goodwill of people in Birmingham itself.
Multiculturalism means different cultures living side by side, separately. We live in a multicultural world of mono-cultural countries. If only England becomes multicultural and other countries don’t, then the result will be a less multicultural world. Right next to the Over ground Station, a peek inside the Railway Tavern pub will reveal white locals in the front, black locals in the back room. This segregation is self-enforced; both parties seem to prefer it that way. The sight of such retailed segregation is uncomfortable, and off-putting. It inevitably reminded me of the ”separate but equal” facilities of late-Jim Crow 60s America.
Many comments claim that the immigrants don’t integrate. Aside from the little interactions mentioned, how can integration occur? Doesn’t it need to be 2-way? How many of us are pleased to accept hospitality and gifts of exotic dishes offered by the ‘immigrants’ and yet don’t reciprocate? Difficult to have a truly ‘multicultural’ society when the core belief of many of those who inhabit one of those cultures is that all the others should be eradicated.
CHRISTIANS should be encouraged to marry Muslims as a way of tackling Islamophobia, a senior peer claimed today. Lord Scott, a former Supreme Court Judge, cited his own family – in which two of his four children married Muslims – as an example of how interfaith families can thrive. The peer, who sits as a crossbencher in the Lords, made the comments during a debate on how to improve relations between the Muslim community and other faith groups in the UK. He said: “Of my two sons one has become a Muslim and of my two daughters one of those has become a Muslim, and I have 12 lovely grandchildren, seven of whom are little Muslims…”I do just wonder that if an improvement is needed between the faith groups, one way of promoting that might be to encourage interfaith marriages.”
We live in a world were women are paid to be naked and fined to be covered, unbelievable! Sisters if you want to wear the niqab you do that. Inshallah you are rewarded for your efforts and commitment in the hereafter. A woman should be free to wear what she likes, if you going to ban a woman for covering up herself, please also ban woman that fail to cover up. The only people who will suffer are Muslim women. A ban would be unjust. One of the best things about this country is its tolerance. Let us remain tolerant.
Speaking English does not promote integration into British, American and Australian societies, and broaden opportunities. English speaking Muslim youths are angry, frustrated and extremist, thanks to state schools with monolingual non-Muslim teachers and English language. English language is not only a lingua franca but also lingua frankensteinia. Human right are also covers linguistic right. Cultural and linguistic genocide are very common. British schooling is murdering community languages like Arabic, Urdu and others. English is today the world killer language. Linguistic genocide is a crime against humanity and British schooling is guilty of committing this crime. Language is not just a language. It defines one’s culture, identity and consciousness. It defines how we think, communicate and express ourselves. The fact is the most South Asian Muslims have come to know Islam by way of Urdu, the children’s alienation from the language that connects them the heritage of their parents and grandparents is disturbing. As a matter of fact, one has to get to know his mother tongue well if one is to master any other language.
British schooling and the British society is the home of institutional racism. The result is that Muslim children are unable to develop self-confidence and self-esteem, therefore, majority of them leaves schools with low grades. Racism is deeply rooted in British society. British schools are not doing enough to tackle racism and promote race relations. Many teachers are unaware of racist attitudes amongst pupils. Schools have a responsibility not only to deal with racist incidents but also to prepare pupils for life in a multicultural and multiracial society. At least one racist incident is reported daily in Bolton schools, according to stats obtained from Bolton Council by Manchurian Matters. Bolton Council of Mosques Manager, Ibrahim Kala, said the data is only the “tip of the iceberg” and that Islamophobia makes up a large portion of the reported incidents. Stats obtained through the Freedom of Information request show 2,397 cases of racism in Bolton schools in the years from 2004 to 2013, meaning on average there are 1.26 racist incidents occur daily – and these are only the ones being reported
Muslim parents and communities rightly want the education received by Muslim children and young people to be improved. But these improvements and greater equality of outcome are not evenly distributed through the country, and there continues to be a need, in Birmingham as elsewhere outside London, for attainment gaps to be narrowed and closed. Amongst other things this means there needs to be more recognition in schools for British Muslim identities, more attention to issues of bilingualism, more commitment to the human right to freedom of religion, more attention to Islamophobia, and closer relationships with parents and communities. Further, it means there is a need for more Muslims to be involved actively in school governance and leadership.
There are hundreds of state and church schools where Muslim children are in majority. In my opinion, all such schools may be opted out as Muslim Academies. There is no place for a non-Muslim child or a teacher in a Muslim school.
