Hazel McCallion has been Mayor of Mississauga, Ontario since 1978
Hazel McCallion the long standing Mayor of the city of Mississauga received the Sir Zafrullah Khan award for year 2014. The award was given by Lal Khan Malik, the President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Canada.
Sir Zafrullah Khan award is given by the Ahmadiyya Community to a nominee with distinguished contribution to enhance the welfare of their community.
Hazel McCallion has been a friend of the community for a long time and she was one of more than fifty dignitaries, who attended the 38th Annual Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Canada.

Speaking to the audience, Hazel McCallion said that politicians have failed to bring about world peace. We hope that men of faith will be successful in bringing about the peace to our world.
Last year recipient of this award was Senator Art Eggleton. Arthur C. “Art” Eggleton, (born September 29, 1943) is a former Canadian Cabinet minister and Mayor of Toronto, and is currently a Senator representing Ontario and a long term friend of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
