The country in the world most faithful to the values of the Koran is Ireland according to an Iranian-born academic at George Washingon University in the US. Next areDenmark, Sweden and the UK.
In a BBC interview, Hossein Askari, Professor of International Business and International Affairs at George Washington University said a study by himself and colleague Dr Scheherazde S Rehman, also rates Israel (27) as being more compliant with the ideals of the Koran than any predominantly Muslim country.
Not a single majority Muslim country made the top 25 and no Arab country is in the top 50.
The Muslim Times stands for Separation of Mosque-Church and State in every country of the world
I am Irish and this ‘study’ is completely baffling to me and every other Irish person. Islam is a minority religion in Ireland and it has played absolutely no part in Irish history or in the development of Irish culture and society, most Irish people have absolutely no knowledge of the Koran or of Islam. Ireland’s values are secular, liberal Western values and NOT Islamic values.
O’Mara. You are right what you are saying, but please read the article again. It just shows that ‘European values’ such as honesty, cleanliness etc. are exactly the same as Islamic values. It does not mean necessarily that a ‘clean European’ has knowledge of the fact that a Muslim is taught that ‘cleanliness is part of our faith’. (just as an example).
It’s very interesting!
Mr. O’Mara has good points there, but as Mr. Rafiq mentioned, it’s not like we claim that Irish current culture and values came from Islam. Make no mistake, we are looking up and adoring your country.
As someone who lives in the largest muslim country in the world, I do think that we lack these kind of values. Nowadays, people just practice the ritual, but hardly appreciate the Islamic values and use them in daily basis.
