NY TImes: Turkey’s highest court ruled Thursday that a government ban on the video-sharing site YouTube was unconstitutional and a violation of freedom of expression. The Constitutional Court sent its ruling to the Telecommunications Authority, but it was not immediately clear whether the agency would lift the ban. Last month, the government removed a ban on Twitter a day after the court issued a similar ruling. YouTube was blocked in Turkey on March 27 after recordings from a secret meeting between Foreign Ministry officials detailing plans for possible military intervention against Syria were leaked to the site. The telecommunications agency said the ban was a “precautionary administrative measure” amid concerns over national security.
