President Yudhoyono does not bring bad luck, says Indonesian official

JAKARTA (THE JAKARTA POST/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) – Indonesia’s State Palace said that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was not to blame for natural disasters as suggested by some psychics.

Cabinet Secretary Dipo Alam on Sunday said that a number of psychics had been wrong for linking the expiration of Dr Yudhoyono’s term in 2014 for flooding, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes.

“Some of these misguided psychics tried to find links between the start of SBY’s term in 2004 and the end of his term in 2014 with so many natural disasters,” Mr Dipo said in his official Twitter account @dipoalam49. He was referring to the President by his initials (SBY).

He said that the disasters, including an earthquake in Central Java on Saturday, were due to the country’s position in the “ring of fire”.
