I don’t usually celebrate birthdays, being a Muslim American who follows Messiahs like Zarathustra. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, on the other hand, means much more than just cutting a cake. To a fellow believer in dreams like me, it commemorates Dr. King’s revolutionary actions.

His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community

It started with a dream and ended in a nation’s liberation, kind of like Moses and the Israelites. Looking up to the Nobel laureate, I yet find a resounding connection; hope for change from my country and justice for the oppressed. Today, I see his holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad and the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community as peace-loving warriors of freedom.

We Ahmadi Muslims are violently robbed of our right to live, love and pray almost daily in Pakistan, while devotees of other faiths like Parsiism are harassed just as barbarically. Let’s take action and transform the darkness of persecution into my religion’s light; love for all, hatred for none!
