Malaysia King says ‘Allah’ is only for Muslims

Epigraph
Say, ‘O People of the Book! come to a word equal between us and you — that we worship none but Allah, and that we associate no partner with Him, and that some of us take not others for Lords beside Allah.’ But if they turn away, then say, ‘Bear witness that we have submitted to God.’ (Al Quran 3:65)

Only Muslims can use the word Allah to refer to God, the Malaysian King has declared adding fuel to the long-running dispute and raising questions over rights of religious minorities in the country where Islam is followed by about 60 % of the population.

Intervening in the dispute for the first time, Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah urged Sunday representatives of all other communities to respect Muslims’ exclusive right in order to maintain stability and harmony in Malaysia.

In the context of a pluralistic society, religious sensitivities especially related to Islam as the religion of the federation should be respected,” the King said in a speech, cited by Malaysian state news agency Bernama.

Confusion and controversy can be averted if there is adherence to the provisions of the law and judicial decisions,” he added.

The term ‘Allah’ came to the language used by the nation’s dominant Malay ethnic group from Arabic and is used to describe ‘God’ by people of all faiths.

Sultan Abdul Halim, 86, is one of the nine sultans who take turns every five years to serve as head of state.

The king’s role in Malaysia is largely ceremonial and his powers are limited. However, he is considered a defender of Islam and enjoys the respect of the Muslim population.

  1. If Christians claim that Jesus is only for the Christians, it will become a major problem for the Muslims, as the name of Jesus appears more often than the name of Muhammad, may peace be on both, in the Holy Quran.

Additionally, a chapter in the Holy Quran is named after mother Mary.

Muslims and Christians are distant cousins and children of Patriarch Abraham, so let us live together in peace and harmony and stop the petty bickering, please.

  2. The king should read the Holy Quran. Not only the arabic but also it’s translation about this particular matter.

  3. Thousands of years before Islam, Prophet Solomon wrote to Queen of Sheba.

    [27:31] “It is from Solomon, and it is: ‘In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful;

Actually these type of trademark exclusivity finds its origin in Pakistan and is now being mimicked by other nations.

What if the Jews claim that since the word “Bismillah” was first used by their prophet, Muslims should not be allowed to used that word !!!!

  4. The gospel of Matthew says that Jesus’ ministry was only to the lost sheep of the house of Isreal. Yet in the Great Commission (Chapt. 28) it says the gospel is to be preached to all the world. Thus the book of Acts shows the ever expanding gospel message to the Samaratans then into Asia Minor and beyond. That same gospel message is being proclaimed in most every country in one form or another. 2000 yrs later and people are still being attracted to message of Christ.
Some Muslims hold that Allah is for Muslims only. Yet Allah is simply the Arabic word for God, its root coming from the Hebrew word Elohim. The message of the true God must be attractive to all, or it fails in purpose. Jesus preached love, not war. The OT proclaims that ‘the joy of the LORD is our strength.’ A true religion must produce love and joy in its followers, or it fails its purpose. A Muslim killing another Muslim cannot be filled with either love or joy. Which is why Jesus taught that ‘by their fruits you will know them.’ Peter used the sword only one time to defend his life, yet Jesus rebuked him. May Allah rebuke the Muslim who does the same.

  5. Allah, the name for the Supreme one God above all other pagan dieties was used even in the era of Ignorance before Islam by Hunafa and even those who worshipped Lat, Manat and Uzza..It is quite evident that Malaysian scholars are not even remotely familliar with Historic facts. Quran even accepts the minimum requirement and asks all nations including the Kuffar and persecuters of the Holy Prophet to let us unite one common denominator that we all will not assiciate anyone with Allah and worship Him alone. Quran says : “Say, ‘O People of the Book! come to a word equal between us and you — that we worship none but Allah, and that we associate no partner with Him, and that some of us take not others for Lords beside Allah.’ But if they turn away, then say, ‘Bear witness that we have submitted to God.’ (Al Quran 3:65)”.

The problem is that Muslims have made innovation into Original teachings of Islam and are most ignorant about their own true religion.

  6. One by one the Muslim countries are being plagued by an extremist mindset. Malaysia is known for being a tolerant society, surely the King of Malaysia would not upset that harmony.

This reminds me about Pakistan where the “Kalima” was rubbed off from Ahmadiyya Muslims mosques.

  7. Malaysian king may be ignorant of the teachings of Islam. He should be a given a book to read and to understand the real meaning of Islam. He should not mislead his people. We are not living in dark age any more.

We must pray for him and hope that he corrects himself and guide his people towards the true islam.

  8. It appears, It is all carried there from Pakistan. Allah is the creator of all mankind. All mankind should be informed about Allah. If name Allah is reserved for the Muslims only then the non-Muslims will not listen to his name. They will say he is not their God.

Also they will not listen to name of Allah because of fear of any punishment attached with name. The non-Muslims will keep clear of the name Allah because of the law of the land.

The king has been misled by the Mullas but still he is responsible. He is the King of all Malaysians, not just the king of the Muslims. He should keep away from all politics in the name of religion. He can tell the Mullas to mind their own business.

King can ask the Mullas whether such a law is enacted in Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia or Bangladesh. If not, then he should refuse to support a bad law and should rebuke the Mulla type sitting there.
We do not know what is the power of the Sultan there. It may only be a rubber stamp ruler. But still, sense should prevail. Malaysia should not make Islam the laughing stock in religions.

  9. 1- Malaysian King, is wrong, if he means that the word ALLAH can only be used by MUSIMS. In QUR-AAN there are more than 99 names that can be used for ALLAH, BUT, only ALLAH knows the meaning of the word ALLAH, no one else.
2- If Malaysian King, in this respect, is right, then, how about the word QUR-AAN? Which word the non-mulims should use for QUR-AAN, then, if they have to use.
3- Malaysian King, must give up kingship and strive to read and understand the teacings in QUR-AAN—-WITH DUE RESPECT.

  11. Meanwhile another child goes hungry and other family is plagued by war.

And grownups argue about two flies crawling up a wall.

Whats the point of all this agony if we can’t stand back and laugh at ourselves?

The credibility of the Malaysian Kind has just done a nose dive. What a silly, silly man in his dotage.

I’m sure God will weigh up all the good things he has done and people will forgive him for his narrow mindedness.

If he is only a figurehead the damage control will be minimal.

Islam will only have thrown up another ‘airhead’ for us to glance over.
