Help Build the Muslim Television (TMT)

Muslim Television III

By Zia H Shah MD, Chief Editor

The search engines scan over 400 years of videos every day, in Youtube alone.  How many life times, would it take an average viewer to review and benefit from the entire collection of Youtube videos?

I hope the readers can see that I do not have to answer this rhetorical question for them.  The point being that numbers are staggering and it is not up to one individual to keep pace with the information age.

Some of the video content is far more useful than others and some may actually be harmful.

How can an average reader or viewer manage this information overload to his or her advantage?

National televisions, different groups and governments want to play it for their gains, by sharing only what suits their agenda. For example, the government of Pakistan and many other Muslim countries, periodically ban or block Youtube, a strategy, which is doomed to fail.

What could be a better strategy, one that maximizes benefits and minimizes, short comings?

The strategy is simple and does not require rocket science to discover it.  This is what I intend to describe here today.

For example, Harvard and MIT have launched an Online-Education Project, but, the video is hidden among the billions in Youtube. The Muslim Times is able to highlight it and constantly share it, through this post and others.

I am a physician and should be up to date on medical issues.  But, the rate of change is so enormous that I may never know, at least not for a long time, what is at the cutting edge in medicine, let alone other fields in the world.

Yesterday, my friend Munir Varaich, from Sweden, sent me a video about the new Apps in medical field, for smart phones.  I thought, it was wonderful and I immediately shared it in the Muslim Times.

It also gave me the the idea that if every reader of the Muslim Times, was so kind to send us the best videos that they have found, recently, on the subject of religion, politics, science and technology, then certainly the Muslim Times will have a collection, which the 1.8 billion Muslims of the world can be proud of.

We have almost 6000 unique readers every day and this number has been growing, geometrically, for the last three years.  Even if a portion of the readers, buy into this idea, our 60 Editors and Correspondents, will have scores of videos to screen every day.

There is a very useful PBS documentary, describing how Jesus took on divine hues in early history of Christianity.  A friend of mine, who would prefer to remain anonymous, told me about this.  He had seen it several years ago and we were able to share it with everyone in the Muslim Times.

From Jesus to Christ: The First Christians” tells the epic story of the rise of Christianity. The four hours explore the life and death of Jesus, and the men and women whose belief, conviction, and martyrdom created the religion we now know as Christianity.

Whatever this documentary fails to cover in detail, is fully explained by another documentary, which has become the most popular documentary, in our video collection:

Now that you know enough, about Jesus, may peace be on him, you may want to know more about the Prophet Muhammad, may peace be on him. The best videos, we showcase in our Video site. You can find the Video tab in the menu below the picture of the Mosque of Medina, in the top of our site.

So, join the noble task of building the Muslim Television (TMT).  You may call it the Muslim Youtube, or whatever you like to call it, but, join the effort, by sending us the links to the best of your collection.

Some, may ask, what is in it for me?

If your pick is shared here, we will mention your name as the source of referral, with your one line CV.

What are you waiting for? Write to us at: muslimtimes@outlook.com

Our entire collection of videos over the years can be browsed by finding the tab “Video,” under “About Us,” in the main menu of the site, below the picture of the Mosque of Medina, on the top of our site.

  1. To me one should prioritize the topic. With in Islam it is the advent of Imam Mahdi and person of Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is priority number one. While outside and to some extent inside of Islam also topic of Jesus Christ is the top most priority. Why not first to start from these topics.

  2. Any culture that gives no freedom to argue and discuss any thing of the past will end sooner or later. When new ideas and thoughts are not welcome.
Nature believes in change lives on change . Change is life.
In any culture where life is not celebrated but death is celebrated will end too. 1400 yrs 1.5 billions converts are not creating but destroying all what their forefathers created. Great Buddhas destroyed ( irreplaceable) in Afghanistan by converts.
ISlam has so much to offer but in the hand of Jihadis and terrorist it will be death trap for ISlam too.
1.5 billions minds are close, now need their door opened and let them grow and
    learn new things .

  3. Don’t you think that by naming this “The Muslim Television” you are limiting yourselves. In this global village and the in this information age, the name must appeal to all humanity, perforce it needs to be on neutral premises.

    MAV

  4. RT (Russia Today) Press TV, AlJazeera, Fox News, etc. are all brands that provide information.

Viewers choose these stations because they understand that these brands will provide news that they can use.

The Muslim Television can be built into the Number One brand for truth and accurate information in the world.
