What Muslims and Jews Have in Common

When we tell people that we have written a book together entitled Sons of Abraham: A Candid Conversation About the Issues that Divide and Unite Muslims and Jews, many respond with comments like: “There must be a million things that divide Jews and Muslims. But what could ever possibly unite them?”

The short answer is: There are far more unites than divides between us. What does divide us is, first and foremost, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Yet as the two of us have learned over the course of our friendship, it is eminently possible for Muslims and Jews to agree to disagree, respectfully, on how best to resolve the Middle East conflict, while embarking together on the holy work of connecting with each other and building ties of communication, reconciliation and cooperation.

  1. Muslims and Jews are cousins decentents of Prophet Ibrahim AS. Believe in one God. Slaughter the animals in the same way, Men get circumcised.

    Jews misinterpreted and misunderstood TORAH for the coming of Messiah similarly Muslims misinterpreted the Divine world of God for Promised Messiah.

    Jews were given the divine law similarly Muslims are given divine law by Allah.

    Jews do not preach their faith in open Muslims do preach Islamic teachings.

    Believers disobeyed Prophet Moses AS during his life and were punished by the God.

    Muslims believers were faithful to their Prophet and Allah so got reward.

    Divine law was not complete on Moses AS where as divine law is completed on Muslims.

    Torah was for limited nation and area. Quran is for entire humanity of the world.
