Analysts say that the army was not trained to fight Islamic militants. Many of the men fighting on the front suffer from low morale. Also, the conflict has entered its fourth year in what was once considered a short operation.
There are other factors that the army blames for its limited success. There is tension within the leadership – Kayani says that while the Afghan Taliban should be talked to, the TTP should be defeated. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif says that the government should also talk to the TTP. In fact, this was one of his policy statements ahead of taking office.
The other was advocating better relations with India.
The army insists that given time and the right political backing, it can defeat the TTP. “Inshallah, God Willing, we will defeat them,” promised General Parvez Kayani, at a recent military ceremony to mark Martyrs Day.

Pakistan Taliban Dilemma is self created drama and likely to continue in future. Root cause is the mind set which started from military brass and now has engulfed the majority of the nation. Religious extremism is providing un ending fuel to it. With passage of time masses seem to be convinced what interpretation of Islam Taliban’s are offering is the correct Islam. Being religiously infested society now majority approves the Taliban Islamic philosophy. Intolerance for each other is at peak these days. Various solutions and acts being offered to curb this menace. However no one touches the root cause. As long state affair is not separated from religion no measure will prove successful. Civil and military elite is not ready to listen to this fact. Rather seems to be afraid of even considering this aspect. Non violent Ahamdiyya Muslim Community is already thrown out from the fort of Islam. Now is the turn for Shia group. Saudi branded Wahhabi’s are all over. A kemal Ata Turk is needed for the country but prevailing circumstances indicate God has decided to punish this country. That is why the nation has been given such stupid leaders. Unless positive change in mid set of the nation is not achieved no light at the end of the tunnel.
India being neighbour should also learn lesson. Other day ex Chief Minister of Gujarat Mr Shakar Singh Waghela, alleged Ahamdiyya Muslim Community to be part of conspiracies in India. Might be he wanted to get votes from other Muslim groups. Baseless allegations on a peaceful religious community and gaining cheap political popularity on the basis of religion caused the destruction in Pakistani society. Same can happen in India also if such footsteps followed.
