Jalsa Salana UK: Muslims have the freedom to prosper here

thisisleicestershire.co.uk: Every year, like hundreds of thousands of people across Britain, I head out into the English countryside to enjoy a festival. But my quest is somewhat different. It’s not a music festival or country fest that entices me, rather it is a religious one.

In fact, it is the biggest annual gathering of Muslims in Britain – and this year is special as we will be celebrating 100 years of religious prosperity in Britain.

The convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community takes place in Alton, Hampshire, and attracts more than 30,000 people from more than 50 countries.

They are people from different races and social backgrounds united in Islam, and a particular branch of the faith that has peace and enlightenment as its bedrock.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is founded on an ethos of Love for All Hatred for None, of service to humanity and charity. We are committed to the belief that each one of us is accountable to God for our actions and that good deeds, acts of kindness and compassion, good citizenship and living without rancour and hatred are a part of faith.

When we proclaim that Islam means peace, we set an example of this fact in our daily lives. No individual should perceive a threat from us by our words or actions if we are to remain true to our faith.
