Overweight police in Indonesia’s capital have been ordered to exercise, exchanging their uniforms for gym wear as they line up twice a week for aerobics and press-ups.

Anyone weighing over 100kg (15 stones) must follow the weight-loss programme started because of the growing number of overweight officers and the perception that they are unable to provide public protection, a Jakarta police spokesman said.
