Ahmadiyah and Indonesia Book Roadshow in Makassar, Calling for Humanitarian Solidarity

Roadshow Book Review entitled “Ahmadiyah Muslims and Indonesia: 100 Years of Diversity and Humanitarian Work” in Makassar.

The Indonesian Ahmadiyya Congregation (JAI), the Gusdurian Makassar community and Jalin Harmoni South Sulawesi held a Talkshow & Book Review Roadshow entitled “Ahmadiyah Muslims and Indonesia: 100 Years of Diversity and Humanitarian Work”.

The event marking JAI’s 100th anniversary in the archipelago took place in the Latimojong Room, Remcy Hotel, Makassar, Tuesday (10/2/2026), attended by hundreds of participants, including interfaith figures, academics, humanitarian activists, and government representatives.

The anthology book being reviewed is a work that records testimonies from 100 national figures regarding the role of Ahmadiyah in Indonesia. The Regional Amir of JAI South, West, and Central Sulawesi, Ashraf Ahmad Muhiddin emphasized that the presence of Ahmadiyah Muslims in Eastern Indonesia is not merely a religious existence, but rather part of the pulse of society through various inclusive humanitarian services, such as regular eye donation and disaster relief.

“Despite frequently facing persecution, Ahmadi Muslims consistently choose the path of peace and never respond with violence, emulating the morals of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him),” said Ashraf, as quoted in a press release. The Head of An-Nadhlah Islamic Boarding School, Makassar, Prof. Dr. KH. Afifuddin Harissa, Lc., M.Ag., in the forum highlighted that tolerance in Indonesia often stops at the slogan level. He stressed the need for deconstruction of prejudice and opening up spaces for healthier academic dialogue.
