Mosques open nationwide for a unique Ramadan experience

The Ahmadiyya Muslim community are set to host their biggest ever event

Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community pray as they attend their “Big Iftar” celebrations

WITH RAMADAN being a time of reflection, gratitude, and self-discipline and with fasting offering many physical, mental, and spiritual benefits, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community are inviting people across the UK to come together to experience The Big Iftar, this week.

Taking place across multiple mosques, including the landmark Baitul Futuh Mosque in Morden, London, this gathering invites people of all faiths and none to share in the spirit of Ramadan.

Providing opportunities to ‘Take the Fasting Challenge’,  try fasting for a day and experience its benefits firsthand or simply gain a deeper understanding of Ramadan by engaging in Q&A sessions, exhibitions, and mosque tours, organisers say the environment is a welcoming atmosphere, open to everyone, regardless of background or belief.

The Big Iftar offers the opportunity to meet the local Muslim community. Guests will enjoy a three-course iftar meal and open discussions on Ramadan’s profound spiritual, mental, and physical benefits.

Rafiq Hayat, National President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK, said: “Our motto is ‘Love for All, Hatred for None.’

“The Big Iftar is about bringing people together, fostering friendships, and building a society based on respect and understanding. It is a celebration of community spirit that transcends backgrounds and beliefs.”

“Big Iftar” includes the fast-breaking evening meal of Muslims in Ramadan to widen the reach of Ramadan to more non Muslims.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has hosted iftars for years, but this year’s event will be bigger than ever, with mosques across the UK opening their doors on the same day.

Those unable to attend on March 15 will have additional opportunities throughout the month at various locations.

Ibrahim Ikhlaf, Director for Outreach and Public Relations, added: “This is more than just a meal – it’s a chance to experience the essence of Ramadan.

“ Visitors will not only share in the iftar meal but also gain insight into the deeper meaning of fasting, its benefits, and how it strengthens both individuals and communities.”

The event is free to attend, and thousands are expected to join across the country. For more information and to register, visit thebigiftar.co.uk.
