The answer is simple. Because in fact they of course knew all about it.
They ‘kindly’ agreed to sacrifice a thousand Israeli lives for the chance of being able to kill (so far) more than 20’000 Palestinian lives.
The Hamas attack was the best Mossad and the Israeli Government could hope for. How else could they murder 20’000 Palestinians (and counting)?
And come closer to their actual plan of expelling all the Gaza residents to Egypt? (their ultimate plan)
A two state solution? You must be dreaming. Especially also not with all those gas reserves within Palestinian territory.

Gaza Marine is a natural gas field off the coast of the Gaza Strip. The Gaza Marine natural gas field is located in water about 36 kilometres (22 mi) offshore at a depth of 2,000 feet (610 m). The field was discovered in 2000 by BG Group and it is estimated to contain more than 1 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.

No one in Israel even remotely thinks that it would be great to share this wealth between Palestine and Israel, for the benefit of all.
No surprise I suppose. Humans are greedy…
