Ahmadiyya Gives Conditions For Members Contesting 2023 Elections

Fri, 23 Dec 2022

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria has said the Islamic organisation is not against any of its members running for political offices but such members must not compromise on its ‘doctrinal standards.’

The Amir of Ahmadiyya Nigeria, Alhaji Alatoye Abdul Hafeez Folusho stated this while addressing a press conference on the forthcoming 2022 Jalsa Salana (National Conference) scheduled to hold at the Jamaat’s Ground, Ilaro, Ogun State beginning on Friday, December 23 through Sunday, December 25, 2022.

The three-day event under the guidance of the World head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Hazrat, Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih, V will be chaired by the Amir himself.

At the conference, special prayers will be held for the success of the forthcoming elections in Nigeria.

The Amir stated that in line with the doctrine of Ahmadiyya, any member contesting the election must not “compromise the faith in which such a person has been adequately nurtured and disciplined via the Quranic tenets to be morally and religiously upright by all standards.”

It does not work like that. It is never so easy because the people (a cabal) that you have consulted and you thought you were cajoling to grab the position will never leave you to yourself once they help you get there.

“They will want to have you in their palm and pocket, controlling your administration and you will only find yourself helpless to do their bidding. No, we don’t condone that.”
