Commission says religious minorities face ‘increasing assault’ under Narendra Modi but state department unlikely to take action

A US government panel has called for India to be put on a religious freedom blacklist over a “drastic” downturn under the prime minister, Narendra Modi, triggering a sharp response from New Delhi.
The US commission on international religious freedom recommends but does not set policy, and there is virtually no chance the state department will follow its lead on India, an increasingly close US ally.
In an annual report, the bipartisan panel said that India should join the ranks of “countries of particular concern” that would be subject to sanctions if they do not improve their records.
“In 2019, religious freedom conditions in India experienced a drastic turn downward, with religious minorities under increasing assault,” the report said.
Being a Indian muslim , I am fully convinced that panel’s recommendations are based on the false report . Islam means the basics of Islam ( arkaan e Islam ) means kalma , numaaz , roza , zakat and huj …I am not facing any obstacle in performing …as far as the question of social teachings of Islam are concerned , I could not understand who is stopping muslims in telling truth or ethical and lawful earning or respecting and caring his wife or serving the society etc etc . We have every right and freedom here . Yes , a few lynching happened but for what ! They were not performing numaaz or giving zakat to poors or doing tabligh e Islam …they were accused of the killing of the cow , which may be merely a animal for others but for Hindus it is god , they worship it . Now question is to know the reaction : government termed it as a criminal activity , those police men who themselves worship the cow , arrested the culprits , the judges who themselves worship the cow , penalised the culprits …no Hindu intellectual or political and religious leader supported the lynching … except a very few , entire Hindu population condemned the act … it’s hard to understand that how a criminal activity which has been rejected by the nation , became anti- Islam ! I am not denying the presence of extremists but they can be counted on the finger . secondly , is killing of the cow is a part of Islam ? Is hurting the sentiments of neighbors allowed in Islam ? Certainly No , then how can a criminal activity ( termed by the government , religious and political leaders and almost the entire population ) became a religious matter ? As far as CAA and NRC ( which yet didn’t come ) are concerned , does an independent nation has no right to decide its citizenship ? Should panel not go through the draft of CAA ? Did it found that by this act , Indian Muslims are going to loose their citizenship ? If someone said ” shot the traitors ” ( this statement has been also condemned ) , from which angle , Muslims come under this statement ? Are Muslims traitors ? As far as communal violences are concerned , it is rightly said ” it takes to tango ” , panel should have see the incident in detail .
