China has made eating wild animals illegal after the coronavirus outbreak

Source: CNN

Hong Kong (CNN) A strict ban on the consumption and farming of wild animals is being rolled out across China in the wake of the deadly coronavirus epidemic, which is believed to have started at a wildlife market in Wuhan.

Although it is unclear which animal transferred the virus to humans — bat, snake and pangolin have all been suggested — China has acknowledged it needs to bring its lucrative wildlife industry under control if it is to prevent another outbreak.

In late February, it slapped a temporary ban on all farming and consumption of “terrestrial wildlife of important ecological, scientific and social value,” which is expected to be signed into law later this year.

But ending the trade will be hard. The cultural roots of China’s use of wild animals run deep, not just for food but also for traditional medicine, clothing, ornaments and even pets.

  1. The Holy Quran has clearly stated which animals should and shouldn’t be consumed. Perhaps we should all start abiding by what is written in the Quran as there is alot of wisdom behind it, which could safeguard us from future outbreaks of such sort.

    • right. Interesting how from time to time the Qur’anic rules become so importantly visible.

  2. In Islam, it has instructed us 1400 years ago, of which foods possess great moral significance. Food consumed should be lawful, wholesome, and pure. Harmful animals and plants shouldn’t be consumed. Certain kinds of food shouldn’t be eaten because of the physical, moral, or spiritual harm it can do.

Islam is the complete guidance for mankind. We should all abide by it as it is beneficial for us in the long run.

  3. This goes to show how we cannot fight nature. Wild animals are not to be eaten. We should aim for food that is accessible to us and safe for our bodies. In Islam, we’ve been taught from right and wrong by reading the Qur’an which outlines the differences between Haraam and Halaal food. We should be thankful of how guided we are and stay healthy.

  4. The media and some parts of the world mock Islam but we can see how the world is slowly adopting some islamic ways whether they realize it or not. Islam is a beautiful religion with complete guidance . The Holy Quran states what food or animal is lawful or not, the importance of health and hygiene. Hopefully, with time the media and the world becomes even more accepting to Islam.

  5. Regarding Pork meat:
He has only prohibited for you carrion, blood, the flesh of swine and that upon which a name of someone other than ‘Allah’ has been invoked. 85 Then, whoever is compelled by necessity, neither seeking pleasure nor transgressing, there is no sin on him. 86 Verily, Allah is Most-Forgiving, Very-Merciful. Q.2:173.

Actually the Pork Meat can save people live as God explain above. Pork meat is NOT poison , but eatable.

Millions millions people of the world eat pork meat are just fine—no problem at all—Islamic scholars from Saudi Arabia are EXAGGERATED—

There is a general rule in Al Quran
and makes lawful for them good things, and makes unlawful for them bad things,Q.7:157.

    • The Holy Quran forbids the consumption of pork due to various reasons.

Islam teaches us to eat foods that won’t affect the body negatively. It is important to keep our body healthy, and that is done by consuming foods, which Allah has permitted us and avoiding forbidden impure things.

One can only have unlawful foods if it is a matter of life and death.

      • It meams that Pork meat can save prople life— it is good— excellent— eatable meat— no poison— allowful food—Right?

      • Quote— whoever is compelled by necessity, neither seeking pleasure nor transgressing, there is no sin on him.—
It dose not say — DEATH— it is exaggerated — Islam is not a religion of extremist but moderate —rational religion— logic.

      • Anum—let me ask you, and please give me your honest answer.

According to WHO, which one is lawful to consume between the pork meat or Camel urine?

Islam allow Muslim to drink Camel Urine but forbid Muslim to eat Pork meat?

I challenge your faith of Islam

      • Consuming pork is forbidden. This is mentioned 4 times in the Quran. Pork is Haraam (Unlawful). Drinking urine isn’t harmful. It isn’t Haraam, but it’s not Tayyab (Pure).

Muslims don’t drink Camel’s urine. This is not a teaching nor a practice in Islam.

  6. The verse quoted does not imply that we can eat pork whenever. It means we can only consume it when it is a necessity to live.

When studying Quranic verses, you have to look at their commentary to get a better understanding of what the verses mean.

    • Please do not trust on ancient scholars commentary 100 per cent, they are lack of science and technology —

NOW, Our knowledge are much better and developed than the scholars who lived in 1400 years ago. OK

When The Government say the pork or other foods are FINE, people can consume it— no problem—the scholars have no right to say good food or bad food for people to eat.

Yes, 1400 years ago, people asked every thing to Scholars. NOT ENY MORE. — be realistic—trust on government— not on Islamic scholars on food case.

      • Okay, looking solely at the Quran, it forbids us to consume pork in these verses: 2:174, 16:116, and 5:4.

Allah is All-Knowing and the Most Knowledgeable. No one knows greater than him. He guided us 1400 years ago, which is still relevant today. We abide by what the Quran says because it is beneficial for us.

  7. Anum— dose God say that Pork meat is poison? No right—
Yes we should follow God’s law professionally according to the context of time and place. God is All Wise,

If I follow your logic, you still agree that God allow Muslim to intercourse with slave or captive woman in our time NOW ? Refer to Q.33:50?

    • Muslims eat animals that are herbivores such as cows, sheep, etc., we don’t eat omnivores such as pigs. Pigs are impure, unhealthy, and harmful for humans due to the fats, toxins, and bacteria it contains. It also eats its waste.

God’s laws don’t go out of date. God has placed restrictions for our good, even if we don’t see it at first.

Let us leave it at that.

  8. Alihamdulilahi robil alamin. The religion of Islam is a complete way of life in its entirety. Almighty Allah also state categorically that there is no compulsion in religion. I would have therefore suggest that whoever wants to eat anything should be allow to do so rather trying to drag the religion of Islam in the mud by some nasty questions some people ask on what Allah had commanded. My fear is just that when the havoc of disobedience to Allah comes, it would likely not affect the people or person that caused the havoc but also the innocents and obedient ones among us as pronounced by the prophet. I pray we turn to the Lord and stop behaving as if we are the creator of ourselves. Alihamdulilahi robil alamin.
