Fahrenheit 9/11, the 2004 screed against George W Bush, remains the highest-grossing documentary of all time. But many argued that despite its box-office numbers it had little effect in changing hearts and minds going into the US presidential election that year: it may have been preaching to the converted.
Now, with a reversal of the dates – 9 November was when Donald Trump was declared the winner of the 2016 presidential election – Moore is back. The premiere of Fahrenheit 11/9 took place at the Toronto International Film Festival, and Moore himself gave out red scarves, to signify revolution, to everyone in attendance.
