‘Love a Muslim day’ letter sent out to counter ‘Punish a Muslim day’ leaflet

The original hate letter had been sent to homes all around the country

A new letter calling for people to “love a Muslim” to counter a hate letter has emerged.

Anonymous letters calling for a “Punish a Muslim day” was sent to households around the country, including four South Asian MPs.

It lists points for hate acts against Muslims, saying there will be “rewards” for actions taken.

But a new letter created by a national charity is now going viral, countering the hateful speech in the original letter.

Called ‘Love a Muslim day’, it encourages people to be nice to their Muslim neighbours. According to the latest census, there are more than 22,000 Muslims in Bristol, forming about five per cent of the city’s population.

The letter reads: “They have loved you. They have made you so many curries and kebabs. They created so much love between people.
