Jordan’s King Abdullah dismissed his three brothers from Jordanian military command Friday, according to Jordanian media reports.

Al-Sura, an independent media platform for citizen journalists, tweeted speculation that Prince Feisal, Prince Ali and Prince Talal had been in contact with Saudi leaders to formulate a coup against Abdullah.

Jordanian media have not yet addressed such speculation.

  1. Wow, after PM Libanon , now King Abdullah of Jordan.
The war will spread to Jordan too? Because King Abdullah joined Turkey to condemn Trump— whereas Saudi did not join OIC in Turkey.

  2. I was hesitating to post this news item, because of course it is just speculation. Still, permit me to reflect a bit on Jordan’s situation. Yes, King Abdullah was able to keep peace in Jordan by balancing the demands of its protecting powers, the US army and the Saudi cash cow. (both doing the bidding of Israel). I used to say that the peace of Jordan is also a proof that the wars surrounding it are directed from the outside and that ‘the powers that be’ at the moment were not interested to create the same disturbance in Jordan. This could change at any time when Israeli politics change. It looks like now we are close to this happening. King Abdullah sees himself as the Protector of Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. The population of Palestinians in Jordan seems to be more than 50%. Now with the new ‘peace plans’ which sees Palestinians being pushed out to the Sinai or even to Saudi Arabia (see other relevant articles in The Muslim Times) may be King Abdullah is no longer sufficiently obedient. Only Allah knows.
