A meeting of high-level military and political leadership is currently underway at the PM House under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.Members of the national security meeting gathered on Thursday with the agenda to come up with a combined response to US President Donald Trump’s new stance regarding Afghanistan and South Asia — in which he had accused Pakistan of offering ‘safe haven’ to terrorist groups. In his speech on August 21, Trump demanded that Pakistan should “stop offering safe haven to agents of chaos” as he presented his policy for the 16-year-long war in Afghanistan in his first formal address as the commander-in-chief.While inviting India to provide more economic assistance and development to Afghanistan, Trump discarded his previous criticism of America’s longest war as “a waste of time and money”.PM Abbasi is yet to respond to the shift in US stance, which came to light on August 21, in Trump’s first formal address since he took the office.Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee Zubair Hayat, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Air Chief ACM Sohail Aman and Naval Chief Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah are in attendence among others.

  1. Hope national determination will prevail to stand on own feet. We are great nation but need loyal and visionary leadership. At this stage bowing head to US artificial pressure will push us again to lower level. We can do without US just say it loud and clear. Prestige and respect are more important than begging. Civil and Military brass please do it differently this time.
