The basic concept plans for a Muslim cemetery outside Farmersville were approved unanimously Monday night.
The cemetery has been a contentious topic for the Collin County town of about 4,000 since it was proposed almost two years ago.
There was no public comment period at Monday’s Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, but residents were given comment cards to fill out, KXAS-TV (NBC5) reported.

Jack Hawkins, a Farmersville landowner, told NBC5 on Monday night that he strongly opposes the cemetery and Islam in general.
