Asad Shah murder: ‘No one should be murdered for their faith’

Members of the Ahmadi Muslim community have praised the “spirit of humanity” shown in the city of Glasgow after the religiously motivated murder of a shopkeeper.

Tanveer Ahmed travelled from Bradford to carry out the attack against Asad Shah because he believed he had disrespected the the Prophet Muhammad.

Mr Shah was an Ahmadi, a minority sect not recognised by all Muslims.

Ahmadi Muslim community spokesman Ahmed Owusu-Konadu said “no one should be murdered for their faith” and praised Glasgow for taking a “united stand against extremism”.
